Ericsson today announced that it has purchased a U.S.-Spanish company called Optimi for an undisclosed sum. Optimi makes network optimization products based on operations-support-systems (OSS). As part of the deal, Ericsson will acquire the company, its assets and 200 employees. The acquisition gives Ericsson an immediately larger customer base and will help it develop, deploy and manage 2G, 3G, and 4G networks faster.
