SD Association Triples Speeds On Best MicroSD Cards
Jan 5, 2011, 12:21 PM by Philip Berne
The SD Association has announced a new hardware spec for the memory cards under its purview, including microSDHC and microSDXC cards. The Ultra High Speed II (UHS-II) spec boosts throughput speeds to 312 Megabytes (MB) per second, a three-fold increase over the UHS-I spec. The cards will retain their original form factor, but devices must feature a UHS-compatible bus interface to take advantage of the higher speeds. The SD Association says such higher-speed transfers will be useful for faster photography shooting, and recording 3D HD video. In addition, the SD Association announced its own eBook application.
