T-Mobile USA Considering Asset Sale

Speaking at an investor event today, Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann said that T-Mobile USA would consider selling non-core assets such as its cellular towers to raise cash for future investments if needed. Obermann and new T-Mobile USA CEO Philipp Humm were discussing the future of the country's fourth-largest carrier. Part of the company's plan will be to reduce churn (customer turn-over rate) to 2% in 2011 and to 1.8% in 2012. The executives also noted that the Sidekick 4G, Samsung Galaxy S 4G and 4G tablets will launch in the first half of 2011. Sprint offloaded its cellular towers several years ago in a bid to reduce operating expenses.
