Verizon Confirms BlackBerry Outage

Verizon Wireless today posted a confirmation via its official Twitter account about a nationwide BlackBerry BIS service outage. Phone Scoop was also able to independently confirm that BIS services are down. The outage affects all BIS users across all networks (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, et al.), which means BlackBerry users will be unable to send/receive email. According to Verizon, the problem should be fixed by Noon eastern time, though it persisted to be offline at the time of this posting.

It was down as early as last week

Tried to activate a BB Bold last week Thursday and was told Friday there was already a trouble ticket opened for issues system wide with BB.

Given that before today the problem was limited solely to Verizon customers, I think it is a problem with the Verizon network, not with Blackberry....and according to the Official Blackberry page on Facebook, the general outage today was a planned out...
