BlackBerry Radio Combines Internet and Terrestrial Radio
Feb 3, 2011, 11:23 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Research In Motion today announced the new BlackBerry Radio beta. The application amalgamates a number of different radio services — including internet radio apps such as Pandora and Slacker, with regular FM radio broadcasters, such as ClearChannel or Corus — into a single application. The application is meant to aid in the discovery of new music, and allows users to listen to channels from a wide range of music providers. While using BlackBerry Radio, users can access and download music that they hear from the Amazon MP3 store, and purchases will be integrated into BlackBerry multimedia. Users can also use BlackBerry Radio to download and sign up for individual premium internet radio services. The beta is limited to Beta Zone users, and is restricted to only the U.S.
