Nokia Announces 1.1 Update for Symbian^3 Handsets
Feb 4, 2011, 11:03 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Nokia has revealed details about version 1.1 of the Symbian^3 platform. The update, which applies to the N8, C7 and C6-01, mostly fixes bugs but does offer some minor new features. Across all the handsets, Ovi Maps are now integrated with the email application, which will let users see locations from within their email or invitations. Meeting requests can also be accepted from within the email application. For just the N8, version 1.1 adds Quick Office 6.4, and three new games. The update is available to unlocked / non-carrier branded versions of the C7 starting today, and will be available to the N8 and C6-01 starting February 7. Carrier-specific versions of the update will be made available at a later date. The update can be downloaded from the Ovi Store. Nokia recommends users switch to Wi-Fi for downloading, as the update is large.
