NTT DoCoMo Field Testing LTE-Advanced

Japan's NTT DoCoMo has been given permission to test its Long Term Evolution Advanced wireless networking technology in the cities of Yokosuka and Sagamihara. DoCoMo has already tested LTE-Advanced in its labs and has reached peak data speeds of 1Gbps on the download and 200Mbps on the upload. DoCoMo will be using experimental equipment to perform the upcoming field tests and will be looking specifically how indoor versus outdoor performance. LTE-Advanced is backward compatible with LTE, which NTT DoCoMo has already deployed in parts of Japan. NTT DoCoMo did not say when it might offer LTE-Advanced service to its customers.
