Synaptics Merges Touch Powers with Display Tech
Feb 8, 2011, 11:47 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Synaptics today announced a new series of touch displays called ClearPad that integrate the touch controls directly into the display itself. The ClearPad Series 3 and 4 combine multi-touch technology with the display driver (DDI) into a single-chip component. Synaptics says that this reduces the cost, reduces the weight and thickness, and improves performance. Synaptics says it is already working with device makers, and it expects hardware with the ClearPad technology to hit the market during the second half of 2011.
