Samsung has announced two new camera modules for mobile devices. The S5K3L1 offers 12 megapixels and 1080p/720p HD video capture at 30, 60, and 120 frames per second. It also has an on-chip pixel correction feature, and an RGB-white color filter array to reduce white noise. The S5K3H2 offers 8 megapixels and a range of video capture options, including 1080p HD at 30 frames per second, 720p at 60 frames per second, and VGA at 120 frames per second. Both modules use Samsung’s back side illuminated (BSI) pixel technology to offer better low-light sensitivity. The two modules are sampling now, with production expected in the second and third quarters for the S5K3H2 and S5K3L1, respectively.
