Skype Looks to Push Deeper into Developing Markets
Feb 14, 2011, 2:40 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Skype today announced its Mobile Partner Program for mobile network operators. The program uses a dedicated client/server that operators can use to provide Skype connectivity in areas with weak 3G signals or low 3G penetration. The client/server configuration will make the most of the bandwidth that is available and optimises Skype's bandwidth needs in order to provide a minimum level of service. Skype said the software is compatible with hundreds of handsets and can be used without draining handset batteries.
