Motorola Adds Features to Motoblur
Feb 14, 2011, 3:43 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Motorola today announced a number of additions to its Motoblur software for Android handsets. The new Connected Music feature is a music sharing and discovery tool, which lets friends see what each other are listening to and offer recommendations. Connected Gallery can be used to push photos from the handset to all manner of social networks, including Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and others, as well as offer notifications. Motorola has fully integrated Aloqa, which it purchased in 2010, into Motoblur. Aloqa adds a range of location-based services to Motoblur, offering users recommendations and special deals based on their whereabouts. Last, the new Motoblur adds improved device management capabilities, allowing users to find or erase the data from lost phones. Some existing handsets, including the Atrix and Cliq 2, will be able to upgrade Motorblur to get these features. Motorola said that it will offer the new Motoblur on more new handsets as the year unfolds.
