ScanBuy Lets Any Cameraphone Access Barcode Content

ScanBuy has announced a new service that allows any cell phone equipped with a camera to access the content stored in barcodes without the need for a dedicated scanning application. Instead, users take a picture of the barcode and then send it to ScanBuy via MMS or email. ScanBuy will then scan the barcode and send the content back to the handset in the form of links. The service supports QR, Datamatrix, EZcode, and UPC codes. The service is launching on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless in the U.S.

When they say "new service" it makes me think that the carriers may charge you for it.
