Audiovox Announces 1xEV-DO Pocket PC

(updated) Audiovox today announced the PPC 5050, the first phone for North America to support the CDMA 1xEV-DO 3G technology. The 5050 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile Phone Edition 2003, and has a 400MHz Intel® processor, 64 MB of memory, and a memory card slot. The device is 0.7 inches thick and weighs 6.2 ounces. 1xEV-DO, launched recently by Verizon in San Diego and Washington, D.C., offers broadband data speeds averaging 300-500 kbps. The phone also supports 1xRTT for use in other areas. The PPC 5050 will be available later this quarter.

400Mhz? Not bad..
Awesome phone. Can't wait to see what we can do with additional add-ons later down the road. What I mean by that is the option to pretty much upgrade anything; much like a PC - Including the processor, ram, harddrive, etc..creating an even more customizable device for numerous people. I wander if ATTWS will get this one. I'm pretty sure there isn't any Audiovox devices for them at the time being...
