6 More Regionals Join Verizon's Rural LTE Initiative

Verizon Wireless today announced that six more regional, rural wireless providers have joined its Long Term Evolution Rural America initiative. The six carriers include Bluegrass Cellular, Cellcom, Cross Wireless, Pioneer Cellular, Strata Networks and Thumb Wireless, which are located in portions of Kentucky, Oklahoma, Michigan, Wisconsin and Utah. These companies have agreed to build-out LTE networks in their regions using Verizon Wireless's 700MHz spectrum. In total, they cover about 1.8 million people over 58,000 square miles.
