ATI Announces Mobile Graphics Chip

Graphics chip maker ATI today announced its first chip designed for mobile devices. The Imageon 2300 is designed to accelate graphics for 3D gaming and advanced multimedia. The chip supports MPEG video playback up to 30 fps, cameras up to 2 megapixels, video capture, and dual displays. The chip also supports the OpenGL ES standard for mobile 3D graphics. The Imageon 2300 is currently sampling; mass production shipments will start in Q1 2004.
