Google Yanks 21 Apps from Android Market
Mar 2, 2011, 8:56 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Google has removed nearly two dozen applications from the Android Market that Google says are malware masquerading as legitimate apps. The apps in question are pirated versions of popular free applications. Once downloaded and installed, they root the phone and then use an executable file to steal user data (including IMEI and IMSI) and download/install more malware. Users are recommended to check their devices to see if they've downloaded the apps in question.
