Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks Say Deal Delayed

Motorola Solutions and Nokia Siemens Networks today both announced that the proposed acquisition of Motorola's wireless networking business by Nokia Siemens has been delayed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, which has extended the review period by an additional 60 days. The deal was first proposed in July 2010, and was eventually opposed by Chinese networking firm Huawei, which says that Motorola has access to its proprietary technology. A U.S. judge eventually ruled that Motorola could proceed with the sale, but can't divulge any of Huawei's trade secrets. The deal was slated to close during the first quarter of this year. Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks now believe they will not close the deal before the end of the quarter.
