AT&T Wireless Officially For Sale

AT&T Wireless today confirmed that it has received numerous takeover bids, and is seriously considering them. Official bids are said to have been received from Cingular and NTT Docomo, while Vodafone and Nextel are reportedly also interested. AT&T Wireless has retained financial and legal firms to assist with the process, although the company said today "there can be no assurance that any transaction will occur." The company also postponed its annual analyst meeting, to be rescheduled "at a later date as appropriate."
