Oz Communications this week announced that T-Mobile USA recently launched its Mobile IM Gateway as part of an ongoing Instant Messaging (IM) initiative. The OZ Gateway provides access to multiple IM networks for phones supporting the OMA Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS) open standard. The gateway currently allows the Nokia 3595 to access the AOL and ICQ IM networks. According to T-Mobile spokesperson Kim Thompson, all future T-Mobile phones will support the service, and the company is preparing to add additional IM networks.
