RIM Partners with Microsoft for 'Cloud' Efforts

Research In Motion and Microsoft have struck a new agreement that will help RIM better serve its business customers. Under the terms of the agreement, RIM's BlackBerry customers will be able to access their personal data via Microsoft's Office 365 service. Businesses will also be able to move their BlackBerry Enterprise Servers to off-site data centers, which RIM says will help push out updates to BES and BlackBerries faster and more securely. The services are still being tested and will be rolled out during the next few months. This will let BlackBerry users get the information and data they need without having to go to local hard drives and/or servers. RIM anticipates that a lot of its customers will be migrating critical business data to the cloud this year and next, and sees this feature as a necessity moving forward. Specifics of the partnership weren't made clear.
