Samsung Announces Infuse 4G for AT&T

At an event in New York City today, AT&T and Samsung unveiled the Infuse 4G. The Infuse 4G has a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and measures 8.99mm thick. It has a 1.2GHz processor under the hood and will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo. The main camera rates 8 megapixels and can capture 720p HD. There is also a 1.3-megapixel user-facing camera for video chats. The Infuse 4G will ship with a $25 Samsung Media Hub credit towards the purchase of content. It will be the first device to support HSPA+ Category 14 at 21Mbps for speed (in markets with enhanced backhaul). It will also have HSUPA Category 6 at launch for faster uploads. Samsung also said that the Infuse 4G has two antennas to maximize signal strength and wireless performance. The Infuse 4G launches May 15 for $199.99 with contract and no rebate.

No thanks

Even if I was still with AT&T, I'd pass. As good as the hardware looks, you can be certain of one thing: Samsung will not support it. If you're lucky, you may see a 2.3 update, and that will be it.

While I love Samsung's screens...

The names are just getting ridiculous now. First it was AMOLED, then Super AMOLED, now Super AMOLED Plus. What's next, Uber Super AMOLED Plus Extra? And then after that, Beyond Uber Super AMOLED-X Plus Extra (Ultra Edition!)?

Come on, Samsung. We know your screens are amazing. Stop adding words. Thanks.

You're right! I would have kept it simple. Something like Retina Display or Super LCD. Now those are some catchy names..
