Nokia Adds Interoperability to PoC Gear
Mar 16, 2004, 9:50 AM by (staff)
Nokia today announced improved interoperability between its PoC (Push-to-talk over Cellular) network equipment and other vendors' PoC handsets. The OMA isn't expected to finalize the official PoC standard until the end of the year. Nokia's 2004 PoC products use Nokia's own "pre-standard", while Ericsson, Motorola and Siemens are using a different "pre-standard". Nokia therefore announced that its network gear will support both pre-standards going forward, upgradable to the official standard when finalized.
