May 10, 2011, 12:44 PM by Eric M. Zeman
At Google I/O, Intuit demonstrated a new application for Android devices that can integrate with near-field communications radios and support mobile payments at the retail level. The new GoPayment application works in conjunction with credit cards, an NFC-equipped phone, and retail scanners to make purchases. Intuit believes this application will help consumers and small business users alike in that it will eliminate the need for swiping credit cards for transactions. Intuit didn't say if/when the application will be released via the Android Market.
