Nokia today announced that it is abandoning the Ovi brand, which it first introduced in August 2007. Ovi - which is Finnish for door - was the tag chosen for Nokia's then-growing services division. Nokia said that starting in July 2011 and through the end of 2012, it will simply rebrand all its individual Ovi services as Nokia services. "By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture - while continuing to deliver compelling opportunities and experiences for partners and consumers alike," said Nokia's EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Jerri DeVard. Nokia said that none of the services will be interrupted and the rebranding will have no effect on its services roadmap.
