Verizon Still Weighing Prepaid Services

Speaking to Reuters, Verizon Wireless CFO Fran Shammo said that the company is undecided as of yet if it will expand a more competitively-priced prepaid service beyond its current trial markets. Verizon is testing a $50 plan in Florida and other regions. "We've always said we're a postpaid company," he said. "That doesn't mean that prepaid is not important to us." Verizon's rivals offer prepaid plans and much lower rates, as do many smaller, regional network operators around the country. Shammo indicated that Verizon will do what it "needs to" with respect to prepaid service pricing, but didn't define what that means.

Why is it when people with contracts pay more than prepaid? I remember when you had good credit you got better for less.
