Research In Motion today made available the BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 beta. This new software developers kit contains all the APIs (application programming interfaces) that developers need to create software for RIM's forthcoming BlackBerry 7 platform. Some of the APIs can be used to access a magnetometer, augmented reality functions, near-field communications, BlackBerry ID, and geofencing/location-based services. The SDK also includes support for the OpenGL ES 2.0 standard for 3D gaming. BlackBerry 7 will first appear on the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 when they launch later this summer.
