VIA Technologies and WTI Investments today announced that they have sold their stakes in S3 Graphics to HTC for a total of $300 million. S3 makes graphics visualization technologies used in PCs, game consoles, and mobile devices. HTC didn't immediately say what it will do with S3's assets and employees. The sale has already been approved by the boards of VIA, WTI, and HTC. It is subject to regulatory approval in Taiwan, but the firms expect the deal to close by the end of 2011.
