Verizon Wireless today added a new feature to its account management tool that sends alerts to customers regarding their monthly data usage. Starting today, smartphone users will receive text message alerts when they reach 50%, 75%, 90%, 100%, and 110% of their monthly data allowance. Customers can also choose to have the alerts sent to three different email accounts. The new feature is launching in conjunction with Verizon's new, tiered data plans, which cost $30, $50, and $80 for 2GB, 5GB, and 10GB per month, respectively.
