Samsung To Launch OLED Phone In June
Apr 26, 2004, 12:09 PM by (staff)
Samsung today announced that it will launch a phone with an OLED main display in June. OLED is widely believed to be the successor to LCD technology for color displays. Small OLED displays have been used for secondary displays in some phones, but the new Samsung display - at 1.7 inches diagonal - will be the first large enough for a main display. Samsung expects it will beat rivals to market by focusing initially on passive-matrix technology. Active-matrix OLED displays are expected to eventually dominate the market, but are not expected be commercailly ready until next year.
