Nokia's Beta Labs today released a new augmented reality browser for current Symbian devices. The beta browser, called Nokia Live View, displays local points of interest when used with the camera viewfinder. It requires the use of GPS and a magnetometer (compass) to accurately assess the user's location and bearing in conjunction with Nokia's Ovi Maps product. Users will see a changing list of local points of interest as they pan their phones about, and can tap any of them for access to more information, such as detailed address/contact info, reviews, and navigation directions. The beta software is free to use.
