European Heavyweights Launch 3G in Germany

Two of Europe's largest mobile phone carriers - Vodafone and T-Mobile - today officially launched 3G phones and services for consumers. Vodafone today launched "Vodafone live!™ with 3G", its consumer 3G offering. The service is initially available with the Samsung Z105 phone, in Germany and Portugal. Other countries and phones will follow in coming months, including the Sony Ericsson Z1010 phone. In response to the Vodafone announcement, T-Mobile accelerated its 3G launch plans by one week, announcing that it will start selling the Nokia 7600 immediately in Germany, under the service brand T-Mobile Multimedia (TM3).
