RIM Launches BBM 6 with Connected Apps
Jul 28, 2011, 6:59 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Research In Motion today announced the availability of BlackBerry Messenger 6, a new version of RIM's popular messaging service that lets users interact with one another from within select connected applications. The key feature brings BBM messaging to applications outside of BBM. This allows people to pull up a BBM contact from within a connected app and share the application they are using with that contact without actually launching BBM. RIM says that users can post their connected apps to their BBM profile, which can be seen and downloaded by that person's BBM contacts. BBM 6 will be available from App World later today. RIM said that a small selection of connected apps are already available, and more will be added to App World during the coming weeks. BlackBerry Messenger 6 is free.
