American Express Rings Up Verizon Wireless
Aug 1, 2011, 8:25 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Verizon Wireless and American Express today announced that Verizon will deploy America Express' Serve mobile payment platform on its phones and tablets. Verizon customers who set up Serve accounts will be able to use Serve/American Express to pay for digital goods directly from their handset. Verizon and American Express say that payments can be made with just a few clicks. The service will be accepted by any merchant that takes America Express' Serve cards. This mobile payment platform is separate from Isis, of which both Verizon Wireless and American Express are a part. Isis will use near-field communications to enable tap-and-go mobile payments at participating retailers around the country.
