HTC today announced plans to acquire a U.S. company called Dashwire for $18.5 million. Dashwire, based in Seattle, provides a service that lets mobile phone users send text messages and make calls, as well as manage content such as photos, videos, contacts, and device settings. User data is stored on Dashwire's servers and can be accessed from the internet. HTC said it believes acquiring Dashwire will help improve its cloud-based offerings, such as Sense.com.
