Adobe Media Server 4.5 Ports Flash Content to iOS

Adobe today announced the Adobe Media Server 4.5 and Adobe Flash Access 3.0. The two products together allow developers to create Flash-based content that will play back in the Safari browser of iOS devices. Earlier this year, Adobe announced that it would support HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) in its Flash Media Server. HLS was created by Apple for streaming audio/video content to the browser of its iOS devices and desktop computers. By adding support for HLS to its Flash Media Server 4.5, content creators who publish in Flash can stream their content to iOS devices without the need to completely rewrite it. The server translates the Flash content to HLS on the fly. This work around will eventually result in more video available on the web to Apple's iOS devices. Apple's iOS devices do not support Flash content natively, and are therefore unable to view Flash-derived video on the web.
