Nextel Introduces MP3 Voice-Email
Jun 24, 2004, 8:43 AM by (staff)
Nextel this week announced NextMail, a new "Push To E-mail" service that lets users send voice messages in MP3 format to any e-mail address, by simply pressing the Direct Connect® PTT button on the side of their Nextel phone. NextMail messages can be sent to up to 50 recipients at once. Recipients do not need to be Nextel customers. Text replies to NextMail are automatically delivered via SMS. NextMail messages can also be sent to the user's own inbox, to archive voice memos. NextMail is available on any Nextel handset for $7.50 per month. Microsoft Windows Mobile Smartphones include a similar feature, using the WAV audio format.
