Samsung Debuts New Exynos Cortex ARM A9 Processor

Samsung today took the wraps off a new processor for smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. The Exynos 4212 is a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor designed using Samsung's 32nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) low-power process. Samsung says the chip consumes 30% less power than the previous generation, but offers 25% more processing power. It includes a new graphics processing unit that can handle 50% more 3D graphics power, and can also record and play back video in 1080p HD. Last, the Exynos 4212 includes an on-chip HDMI 1.4 interface. The chip will be sampling to select customers by the end of the year.
