Apple Quietly Intros MicroUSB-to-30-Pin Adapter

Apple has recently listed a new adapter for sale though its U.K. web store that allows iOS device users to connect a standard microUSB cable to the 30-pin port on the bottom of the iPhone/iPad. The adapter is being sold for £8, or a little more than $12. Apple is likely selling the adapter in order to conform with European Union law, which mandates that mobile phones use the microUSB standard for charging and data transfer. Apple has not indicated if it will make the adapter for sale in other markets.

Apple had plenty of time.
Law was micro usb, not 30 pin adaptor, this is also true for other areas of the world but the EU, Apple even signed on board. Their product should be banned from the EU and other areas who are going to the micro usb standard as agreed upon. No adaptor, not figamagig, just the same micro usb port as everyone else.
What would work fine is make the iPhone with microUSB and then send an adapter so the old cords work with it.

why dont they just put both on? It certainly wouldnt be too difficult, plus they could put whatever limites they want on either one, considering the micro only needs to charge it...

I don't mean it in a way of an opinion, but technically... does it perform as well in terms of data transfer as microUSB?
It depends on how it is connected to the PC. In 99% of installations in today's world, the 30-pin connector, when connected via USB, is a USB connector.
