T-Mobile USA today announced the LG DoublePlay, a unique Android slider that has a full QWERTY keyboard with a second touch screen placed in between the split keyboard's halves. The DoublePlay's main display measures 3.5 inches and the secondary display measures 2 inches. T-Mobile says that the two displays can be operated independently of one another, or in tandem. Other features include a 1GHz SnapDragon processor; a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p HD video capture; and Cloud Text and Group Text for phone-to-phone and PC-to-phone texting. The DoublePlay runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Pricing and availability were not announced, though LG did indicate that this is the phone that it will use in its annual National Texting Championship, which takes place later this year.
