Skifta App from Qualcomm Turns Androids Into Media Remotes

Qualcomm Atheros, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, today announced a new Android application that turns smartphones into media remote controls. Skifta 1.0 lets Android smartphone users access and control their home- or cloud-based media via 3G or Wi-Fi. The software is DLNA certified and includes desktop plug-ins for Windows, Apple, and Linux computers. It includes a feature called the Channel Library, which lets it access content from Facebook Photos, Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket, Soma.fm, Napster, ShoutCast, Revision 3, TED Talks and more. The application is a free download from the Android Market.
