Republic Wireless Promises a 'Serious Evolution'

A new company called Republic Wireless is making big promises to deliver change to the wireless industry starting on November 8. The company has set up an introductory web site that includes plenty of marketing lingo but few real details about what its service is and how it will operate. Republic writes of today's wireless industry, "You're 21st Century technology married to a 20th Century business model. But we've moved on. We don't just want wireless. We want stringless. As a matter of fact, we want it DIY... We can definitely join together to make a new kind of wireless network. One for us. One, in fact, that is us. In other words, we have our own Operating System. It's called Freedom, and it works." The company says that the wireless industry should be ready for change. All that's known with certainty is that Republic Wireless is run by Bandwidth.com, a Cary, N.C.-based company that specializes in providing internet and VoIP-based voice services.
