AT&T will upgrade its 4G network to Long Term Evolution-Advanced technology starting in 2013, according to statements made by Krish Prabhu, president and CEO of AT&T Labs. Prabhu was speaking at the LTE North America conference in Dallas when he made the statements. AT&T later confirmed Prabhu's remarks, but declined to comment further on the timing for the LTE-Advanced deployment. Sprint and Clearwire have also committed to deploying LTE-Advanced. Verizon Wireless, the nation's other large LTE network operator, has yet to announce plans beyond its current LTE network.
