Research In Motion today indicated that it is performing an upgrade on its BlackBerry App World that, when complete, will deliver content rating to the storefront. RIM says the rating system is based on feedback from its carrier, consumer, and developer partners. Applications will be given ratings such as G (appropriate for most users) or T (appropriate for users in their teens and up). RIM believes the rating system will help parents better manage the content their children are consuming via their mobile phones. RIM also plans to push out a device-side client that will allow parents to set rating filters. After the filters are set, only apps that meet the filter's requirements will be visible when browsing App World.
