Samsung Plans Digital Wallet Phones

Philips yesterday announced a deal with Samsung to put Philips Near Field Communication (NFC) chips in certain future Samsung mobile phones. NFC is a very-short-range wireless (contactless) technology designed to connect devices no more than a few centimeters apart. Uses include both content transfer and secure "digital wallet" applications. Philips, Nokia, and Sony are all charter members of the NFC Forum.
