Wacom Brings Tablet Tech To Phones

Wacom today announced a new chip that allows its Penabled™ inductive pen sensing technology to be integrated into mobile devices such as smartphones. The technology permits brighter and more durable displays compared to touch-screen technology, and can sense the pen position even when hovering above the display. Wacom's technology is found in most Microsoft Tablet PC devices. Wacom is a Symbian Platinum Partner and is working closely with the group on new devices using all Symbian platforms, including Series 60.

I've had the tablets

I have had several tablets over the years and the techology is pretty slick. Not sure how useful it would be on such a small screen (a nice big tablet works best), but I would be very interested in seeing it.

I think it's more in the touchscreen application of things - imagine an updated version of the Nokia 9300 with an actual touchscreen... at least that's what I envision.
