Verizon's LTE Network Hits 5 More Markets Jan 19

Verizon Wireless today announced that its Long Term Evolution 4G network will expand by five new markets on Thursday, January 19. The new markets include Glens Falls and Utica, N.Y.; Lawton, Okla.; and Brownsville and McAllen, Texas. The company is also expanding its network in Atlanta, Ga.; Houston, Texas; and Spokane, Wash. With these expansions, Verizon says that LTE 4G is available to more than 200 million people in 195 markets across the United States.

The smallest expansion yet!
Verizon has prided itself on aggressive expansion, which up to this point it has. With this expansion Verizon is acting like it's rival AT&T, only adding 5 MORE MARKETS. I'm actually more shocked by this announcement than anything, I was expecting a huge list of expansions and new markets. I guess it had to start slowing at some point, for several reasons really.
Main reason, in my opinion, is they have to wait on county approval of new cell sites, or to upgrade cell sites. Second reason, not listing reasons in any certain order, is that they have hit all major cities with equipment for Internet and voice available. Another reason is they are having to wait on rural companies to get LTE up and running for them. There are probably a ton...
