Foursquare for Android Adds NFC-Based Tap to Check In
Feb 10, 2012, 10:23 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Foursquare recently updated its mobile application for the Android platform and quietly added support for near-field communications and the Android Beam NFC P2P service. Specifically, NFC support has been added for the app's Venue, Lists, and Me pages. This update gives users of Android 4.0 devices with NFC on board the ability to share the places they've visited recently by tapping their phone against a friend's similarly equipped phone. The app also allows users to check into venues by tapping NFC tags and/or posters rather than manually checking in with the software. At the moment, this functionality is limited to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.
