Audiovox Announces Its First EV-DO Phone

Audiovox Communications today announced the CDM-8940, the company's first feature phone with CDMA EV-DO high-speed data technology. EV-DO provides broadband data rates - peaking at 2.4 mbps - for laptops connected via USB. Other features of the clamshell phone include dual 260,000-color TFT displays, a 1.3 megapixel camera with macro and video capture, and a miniSD memory card slot. The tri-mode phone can support either Java or BREW (carrier-dependent). Both Verizon Wireless and Sprint are currently deploying EV-DO networks.
