Nokia today announced a PoC (Push to talk over Cellular) client for certain recent Nokia devices based on the Series 60 Platform. The client makes the "walkie-talkie" functionality available for users of the Nokia 6600, 6620, 6670 and 7610 smartphones. The software comes standard with the 6260. Nokia will make the software available to carriers, who have the option of making it available to consumers as a downloadable application. The client is based on Nokia's pre-standard for PoC, which is upgradeable to the forthcoming OMA industry standard for PoC technology.
