Voice Dialing

Is the voice dialing on the E 51 speaker independent, or do you have to train it?

UMTS For the U.S.?

I've noticed it has WCDMA 850/2100. Now, does that mean it'll work with AT&T's network and give us 3G speeds? Or do we need 850/1900 for that to work?
the 850 band is standard band 5, which at&t uses
it will work

Does No 3G and No GPS + ATT = Good Phone?

Looking at this phone, it does seem like an ideal phone for me. However, the lack of 3G that would work on AT&T strike me as a possible thing making me wary. The lack of GPS isn't much of a concern, though it would make an awfully nice novelty to have. The E90 seems like a much cooler phone, but I can't justify the price, especially lack of 3G that would work in the US.

However, I don't use data much other than Google Maps and Mail, and casual Wikipedia. Though I tend to use them all when I am on the go, so even though I can use WiFi with it, when I don't have access to wifi, Edge probably would suffice.

So my question is, would you recommend this phone to somebody that wants a mini smart phone, in a candybar format? Would I rea...

No sound on games

My E51 does not play the sound in games. Is it just that the games are not compatible with the E51 or is there a fix for this problem?

Is there any more information on this yet? I loved this phone when I saw it on the Nokia web site, and figured it wouldn't even be available in the US. But I'm a T-Mobile customer, so if this is true, I might hold out on upgrading until they release t...

Sync SMS messages to Outlook Calendar

A colleague has a Nokia 6230i and discovered that he could file an SMS message to the Calendar. This is brilliant. I thought the E51 was bound to have that possibility and would allow sync to the Outlook calendar complete with the SMS message.

Apparently not. Or am I missing something here?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Help

Firstly, great phone, but!

I have latest firmware and all is well, almost!

Somebody please try this, need to know if it is a problem unique to me.

Go to a calendar appointment and send to somebody via a text message. (on nokia phone) The appointment that arrives has all details but is two hours earlier on the recipients phone!!!Regional settings, time on computer, everything is correct from what I can see. Even tried reloading firmware. I spoke to nokia support and my phone is 8 days old now so guess what, they wont exchange it, they will check it in for repairs though.

Nice Guys!!!

QuickOffice Editor Software

Does anyone know where to download QuickOffice Editor Software... for free? The preloaded quickoffice only views word, excel & (maybe, I have not tried) powerpoint. It does not allow any changes to be made on the data.

Nokia For Heavyweight Champ

Week in and week out, Nokia releases phones that I absolutely drool over 🤤 . If Nokia ever released a top-end phone for Verizon (the Nokia 6315i doesn't count) I think I would be in heaven. Nokia for President.
more than likely verizon will hack it all up and not allow you to take advantage of all the phone's capabilities.
specially the branded software. yuk.
switch to at&t and get a real phone.

Can USB charge the battery?

I think Nokia phones are the best overall, and I'm glad that the cable is now a mini USB cable..but I'm curious to know if connecting the phone to the computer will now be able to charge the phone...does anyone know?
It is unable to charge the phone when connecting the phone to the computer.

Display Screen Size

Does anyone know what the exact screen size is on the E51?

I know that it's 240x320 pixels, but I'm talking about physical dimensions. It has been listed at 2 inches, but what dimension is 2 inches the diagonal dimension? if so, what are the other dimensions?

Thanks
We can use trusty ol' math to figure this one out.

Pythagorean Theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
240^2 + 320^2 = c^2
57600 + 102400 = c^2
160000 = c^2
400 pixels = c = diagonal
If diagonal is 2", then
200 pixels = 1"

Therefore
240 pixel short side...

Diguise

What's with Nokia diguising their new smartphones as entry-level phones? I even saw a post on this forums that said this phone looks like the 6030.
Looks more like a 2610 to me. Same deal, though.
